This was a great little trip off the main road. Fern canyon is about a eight mile drive on a dirt road through a redwood forest. If the theme song to Jurrasic Park isn’t playing in your head during this drive you are inhuman! The Canyon goes on for a few miles and is an incredible hike. you need to be able to climb over rocks and down trees to complete it. We only went about a mile up the canyon and that still left a huge impression on us. The Canyon it self has 30 foot walls that are covered in vibrant green ferns, but light is scarce. much like the redwood grove this is a challenging location to isolate your subject. This photo I made uses color contrast and depth of field to separate my subject from its back ground.
