This was a fun photo to make.  I was actually headed to another location when I saw the light glancing off the wild grass on the side of the trail.  I knew I wanted to make a photo with very dramatic New England clouds and I wanted to catch the great light blasting through the trees, So I lined up a wild flowers head with the sun.  That made it possible for me to diffuse the light hitting my lens.  Basically reducing the dynamic range of the image but keeping the feeling.  In nature photography you can use this technique a lot.  Trees, leaves, grass, flowers, anything translucent will work.
