Dead Tree

This was one of those photos that I did a lot of stupid things to get.  It was low tide on a very stormy day when I shot this.  There is a parking lot that is elevated about the endless meadow of seagrass so I immediately spotted the contrast of this weathered tree on the green grass from a mile away. My first mistake was that I headed out to it in bare feet.  Honestly, very few things motivate me to put shoes on in the summer, but now that I have the memory of very bloody feet on my return trip which will be enough motivation for my next trip out there.  The cloud layer was pretty solid this day but, there were sporadic breaks, which is why I didn’t setup shoot and run.  That was mistake two.  There were visible lightning strikes all around.   I knew  good light was going to return and I was determined to wait for it even though, I was the tallest object for at least a mile and I was holding a metal tripod.  luckily the light retuned, I got my shot and hustled back to my car on crimson colored feet.
